Hush Puppies

HemingwayDesign specialise in identifying seminal moments in British design and popular culture, then pulling them into a modern context. This is exactly what they did with Hush Puppies.

Hush Puppies came to prominence at a time of great importance musically, as well as culturally, and are recognised as a staple of the late 50s rock ‘n’ roll scene, essential footwear for the fashion conscious lad of the 80s, and can rightly claim to be the shoe of choice for the 60s mod – a distinctly British and frequently revisited look. These style personas gave us the DNA to create our own, all-new collection.

Led by Jack Hemingway, the HemingwayDesign collection features eight pieces that take inspiration from a Teddy Boy classic: the Brothel Creeper, the Mod’s Chelsea and Desert boots and the Casual’s ultra-cool suede loafer. The designs combine street style with Hush Puppies everyday comfort and wearability. We also designed all the packaging, POS and led this exciting photo and film shoot in Margate.
